New phpBB version!

Posted on: Thu Feb 11, 2010 3:34 am

To better address the spam problems my board has been having lately, I've upgraded the version of phpBB I'm using. Soon I will also be adding in some more anti-spam mods to help keep things a little more under control.

As a side-effect, my front-page script no longer worked and needed to be upgraded. Please bear with me as I get the formatting produced by the new script to be less ugly.

Cleaned up forums

I went through and cleaned up the forums so most of the spam bot posts should be all gone.

I also updated the forum to make registration more difficult for bots. Sorry for the added difficulty in registering, but at least you won't all have to wade through all the spam posts. :)

If you spot a spam bot that I missed, please let me know and I'll clean it up.

Jadin has graciously offered to help moderate the forums, so you may see him cleaning up from time to time. Plus, I've banned several spam bots and purged their posts to try and clean up a bit. Finally, in order to cut down on spam, I've made registering a pre-requisite to posting. Sorry for the inconvenience, but hopefully it will make the board a little more useful for everyone.

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd let you know that I put up the first version (the version we turned in for our class project) of a game I've been working on for my programming languages class. It's a Zelda-like game written in Java. Check it out at here. I also made a discussion forum for it if you have any comments! Enjoy!

New PocketSNES release with .zip file support!

Hey everybody! I put out a new release of PocketSNES for you! No major speed improvements in this one I'm afraid, but it does let you now load SNES ROMs contained within .zip files! Now you can save space and run games faster (more memory -> faster program speeds). The list of changes are as follows:

Changes for 1.12.200 (build 2003-01-16)

- added support for loading ROMs from .zip files

- changed file open dialog to allow loading .fig and .zip files

- fixed bug in iPAQ 38xx portrait display mode where the screen wasn't centered properly and it cut off the bottom part of the screen

- changed some build options to speed it up a tiny bit

Sorry it took me so long to put this one out for you guys. This one includes some speed-ups put in by Gestalt and also includes a build-type that you can use for profiling the code, provided you have to the right tools to do it (more on that later). Enjoy!

Welcome to the new paqpark! I had to switch hosts for the site, and thus am having to switch everything over from ASP to PHP. So, this might take a while, but when I'm done I should have a new release of PocketSNES ready for you, fresh from Chattafu's hot hands. Enjoy, and thanks for your patience!
