Project Falcon
featuring
Chronicle of Hylen

hylentitle.jpg - 15kb WHAT IS IT?
Falcon is the name of a game engine, similar in style to Zelda, that we created. It is easily extendible and can be used to create your own Zelda-like game. Further information and documentation will be forthcoming. "Chronicle of Hylen" is the demo game that we made using this engine we built. The first version of this game is very short and somewhat limited in scope, but shows off many of the features of our engine.

WHO MADE IT?
This project was originally written by myself and two other Computer Science students at the University of Washington for a "Programming Languages" (CSE 341) class under the instruction of Professor Alan Borning. The author's names are: Scott Ramsby (me!), Robert Gray, and Camden Davis. Robert and I are the current maintainers. Most of the artwork, sound, and music come from third party sources, which are mentioned in the credits below.

HOW DO I GET IT?
To the left is the listing of the newest releases for your downloading pleasure. To run the binary versions, simply download the zip, extract it to a directory, and double-click the .jar file. You will need to have a Java run-time environment installed of version >= 1.4. You can download this at Sun's Java website. You can download the Project Falcon source to look at the source code for the game engine and the map editor, then you can download Chronicle of Hylen to play our example game that uses this engine, and you can also download the binary of the map editor to create your own maps, or open up and look at the maps in Chronicle of Hylen.

BIN = compiled binary
SRC = source code

HOW CAN I HELP?
How very generous of you! Being that I am currently a full-time student at the University of Washington, my time is somewhat limited. You can help out in several ways. First, probably the thing I need the most help on, is testing. Please post any comments, bug reports, or any other information/questions related to the project in the Project Falcon forum.
